Background to the creation of Kyudo Tours
In May 1984 I met Per Flood, then a dedicated Kendoist and manager of the Swedish Kendo Team at the 1984 Paris World Kendo Championship. Per, like myself live most of the year in the beautiful Shizuoka Prefecture.
In recent times the Shizuoka Prefecture Government tourism department approached me to assist with their wish to promote Shizuoka as a place to come a study Budo. The success of our Kendo Tours and the amount of positive press coverage it has triggered was the catalase for their interest.
With the theme of Budo Tourism I approached Per to see if he (now a successful high graded Kyudoka) would be interested in initiating a Kyudo Tour program , like the Kendo Tour it would not be one of these let people dress up in armour and have a play .. Like our Kendo Tour Per is going to be running a Kyudo Study Tour for people serious about understanding Kyudo on a deeper level and at the same time enjoy what Shizuoka has to offer …believe me it has a lot to offer !!!
